NOAA 19

Temperature this morning was -10° (14° F) wind calm and light snow. We have been able to drive on ice now since mid January so I thought today would be a good day to go Zat-Mobile and test the JM-137-DCA-Kit and receive the new NOAA-19 satellite that was launched yesterday from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, United States.

The NOAA 19 image to your right show Visible channel 1in Video A and Near Infrared channel 2 in Video B. Later on Video B will be Far Infrared channel 4. The R2FX receiver was used.

The length of the pass is impressive 16 minutes of pure APT.

JM 137 MHz DCA Kit

The JM-137-DCA-Kit is made of 20 mm electrical pipes and 3.2 aluminum TIG welding rods. Its weight is less than 1 kg.

This kit is available from the Shop @ poes-weather. If you build it yourself it will not cost you more than $30.

On the Zat-Mobile roof I have mounted an old 4.5 m wind surfmast. The antenna height is 7.4 m above ice.
