You must have an R2FX or ICOM PCR receiver and connected it to your computer. Select first the R2FX or ICOM PCR receiver as your default radio from menu General settings tab Radio control. Click on the Run Test button to make sure it can communicate with it correctly. Click Ok to apply changes you made. 
To record signals open the receiver tuner window from the menu Tools->Radio control. You will find a small icon with a yellow horn on just right of text R2FX VHF Receiver and if you are using an ICOM PCR you'll find a button REC to the bottom right of the tuner window. If you click on it, it will create a signal file to your audio folder egc:\aptdecoder\audio\2007\May\20_Sunday\070520_065541_NOAA_17.rxt and the horn will turn red indicating it is recording signals. The file is a text file with extension .rxt. The satellite is the one being tracked in the main window trackbar. It will not add signals if the satellite is below your horizon and it will stop automatically when it recedes below your horizon. To stop recording manually click again on the icon or close the tuner window. You can record signals at the same time as you are recording an image. I usually click the record button a few minutes before the satellite is at my station horizon so I wont forget to record the antenna plot also.
To view the signals you just recorded select from the menu Tools->Signal plotter. Open a signal-file from the menu File->Open or drag-and-drop a file from the file manager (Windows Explorer).
 To view the signals recorded in detail click menu View->Data. A signal is recorded approximately every 500 ms.
You can adjust the signal threshold values and the grid in the Settings-dialog. Resize the window to adjust the image size. Finally save the plot as JPEG from menu File->Save plot...
